Knights Women Take Fifth in Slalom at USCSA Nationals

Bend, OR – For the second time in three days, the Clarkson University Women's Alpine Ski team just missed out on the podium, placing fifth in the slalom on the third day of the USCSA National Championships at Thunderbird - Mount Bachelor.

The Golden Knights were fifth out of 27 teams with a team time of 4:59.07, roughly 4.5 seconds out of fourth and nearly four seconds ahead of the sixth place team. Clarkson's men will compete in the slalom on Friday.

Though Ariana Welter wasn't able to follow up her runner-up finish in the giant slalom with another podium position, she still led the way for the Golden Knights on Thursday, taking 13th out of 137 skiers with a time of 1:37.27. She was 12th in the first run down the hill and 13th in the second trip to close out her time. Hannah Goetz was next for Clarkson, coming in 21st overall as she finished 22nd in both of her runs. Her time of 1:39.80 was the second time for the Knights, just ahead of classmate Elyse Donaghue, who finished in 1:42.00, jumping from 36th in the first run to 25th in the second run, to put her in 27th overall.

Both Kyla Butler and Kylie Brino were also in the middle of the pack for the day. Butler ended up in 67th place in 1:52.28 and Brino came in 76th with a time of 1:55.46.
