Former Clarkson University Alpine Skiing standout Austin Florian continues to ascend the world rankings in the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) and that showed this past weekend when he and Mystique Ro combined to win the Mixed Skeleton World Championship this past weekend near Lake Placid, NY.

Florian, a 2016 graduate of Clarkson University and former two-time USCSA All-American in Alpine Skiing, and Ro won at Mount Van Hoevenberg with a combined time of 1 minute, 54.33 seconds, just edging out a duo from Great Britain by three-tenths of a second. The duo was fifth at the 2024 IBSF World Championships in Winterberg, Germany.

It was the fourth gold medal overall for the United States at a skeleton world championship, with the previous three coming from individuals between 1999-2012.

As an individual at Mount Van Hoevenberg, Florian finished sixth at the IBSF World Championships, a little over two seconds behind over the course of four heats. Florian was 19th at the IBSF World Championships in 2023 and ninth at the 2024 IBSF World Championships.
