Goetz and Martin Top Skiers for Clarkson at West Mountain

Queensbury, NY – Much of the field could not complete their runs on Saturday at West Mountain and that issue came up frequently for the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team, as the Golden Knights competed in another FIS race hosted by Castleton.

The Golden Knights' men finished fifth out of seven MacConnell Division teams while the Clarkson women came in fourth out of seven conference squads. The teams will compete at West Mountain once again on Sunday.

Half of Clarkson's entrants could not complete both runs, but those that did performed well. Hannah Goetz finished 15th in the field of 84 skiers (55 of which made it down the hill twice), finishing with a time of 2:26.67. Her second run was more than a second faster than her first, allowing her to vault up from 25th place at the halfway point of the event. Kylie Brino ended up in a tie for 34th with a time of 2:39.05 and Kyla Butler came in 37th in 2:40.14 to close out Clarkson's team time. Caroline Meneely did not finish her first run, while both Ariana Welter and Elyse Donaghue did not finish their second trips. Both Welter and Donaghue were in the top 25 at the midway point of the race.

On the men's side, only four of Clarkson's 12 skiers completed both runs. Edouard Brochu, Josh Jusiak, Aristotle Ninos, and Braden Kruk came up short in their first tries, while Jackson Knobloch, Colin Cotter, Zach Zientko, and Evan Phelps did not finish their second trips. Still, Reed Martin ended up in 32nd place in the field of 97 skiers (60 of which finished both runs) with a two-run time of 2:15.25. Just a half second behind Martin was Pedro Gonzalez, who placed 33rd in 2:15.75. Noah Marino then came in 38th in 2:17.83 to finish Clarkson's team time. Adin Freeman also placed 43rd with a time of 2:20.06.
