Knights Take Second in GS FIS event at Whiteface

Wilmington, NY – For the second straight race it was Hannah Goetz and Edouard Brochu leading the way for the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team, as the Golden Knights competed in their second giant slalom FIS race at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights' men placed second among seven MacConnell Division teams thanks to some strong second runs, while the Clarkson women came in fourth out of seven squad.

Brochu was the top performer of the day for either side, finishing with a time of 2:03.00 in his two runs, both which were below 1:02. He was 36th in the field of 107 skiers, but was fifth among MacConnell Division skiers. Jackson Knobloch had two consistent runs as well and was 39th overall and seventh in the league's skiers thanks to a time of 2:05.55, while Reed Martin took 42nd and was also in the top 10 for conference skiers with a time of 2:06.93, which closed out Clarkson's team time.

Pedro Gonzalez was 45th in the field at 2:07.19, Noah Marino placed 47th in 2:08.18, Zach Zientko came in 51st with a time of 2:09.32, and Aristotle Ninos was also in the top half of participants by finishing 53rd in 2:09.93. Just outside the first half of the field were Adin Freeman (57th, 2:13.75), Evan Phelps (60th, 2:17.37), and Braden Kruk (62nd, 2:18.62). Colin Cotter was fourth among Clarkson skiers after his first run but he did not finish his second trip down the hill, while Josh Jusiak did not finish his opening run.

On the women's side, Hannah Goetz was sixth among MacConnell Division skiers and 30th overall out of the 82 participants in the FIS event, finishing her two runs in 2:12.03. Kylie Brino was next for the Knights, coming in 47th place overall in 2:23.00, and Kyla Butler finished off the team time by placing 48th in 2:24.87. One spot lower for the Knights was Caroline Meneely, who was 49th in 2:28.42. Both Elyse Donaghue and Ariana Welter did not finish their first runs.
