Wilmington, NY – On a day in which many participants couldn't complete both runs, junior Hannah Goetz and freshman Edouard Brochu stood out for the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team as the Golden Knights competed in a FIS giant slalom race at Whiteface Mountain.

The Golden Knights' men placed second out of seven teams in the MacConnell Division, while the women ended up in third among seven MacConnell Division squads.

Goetz had the best finish of the day for either the women or men, ending up in 17th place in a field of 84 skiers, though only 46 of the 84 could complete both runs at Whiteface. Goetz's finish of 2:10.63 put her in the top five among MacConnell Division participants. Kyla Butler was next for the Knights, placing 31st in the field in 2:249.99 and Kylie Brino closed out the Clarkson team time by coming in 35th in 2:27.88. Caroline Meneely, skiing in her first collegiate event, came in 40th with a time of 2:35.31. Both Elyse Donaghue and Ariana Welter did not finish both runs.

A higher percentage of competitors kept their feet on the men's side, but still only 62 of 109 skiers were able to complete both runs down the hill. Edouard Brochu was the lone Clarkson skier to finish the first run in under a minute and finished with a combined time of 2:02.68, good enough for 30th in the field. Jackson Knobloch was next for the Knights in 34th place in 2:04.21 and Pedro Gonzalez finished off the Clarkson team score by closing out his runs in 2:05.40 to take 36th. Gonzalez began a long streak of Clarkson skiers showing just how much depth the Knights possess on the roster. Reed Martin was 37th in 2:05.58, Noah Marino took 38th in 2:05.61, Colin Cotter ended up in 39th in 2:06.05, and Zach Zientko rounded out the top 40 in 2:06.11. Slightly further down the leaderboard was Aristotle Ninos (43rd, 2:08.04) and Adin Freeman (50th, 2:14.44). Josh Jusiak, Braden Kruk, and Evan Phelps each had solid times in the first run but did not finish their second trips down the course.
