Brochu and Butler Top Performers for Knights on Day Two of Babson Carnival

Andover, NH – A few skiers slipped on Saturday, but the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team still posted solid results on day two of the Babson Carnival, held at the Proctor Ski Area.

The Golden Knights' men finished fourth of eight teams while the women ended up seventh out of eight squads.

Clarkson's women had the biggest trouble on the slopes Saturday, as just two of the five starters made their way down the hill for both runs. Kyla Butler had the top time of the day for the Knights, coming in 55th place among 105 skiers with a time of 1:54.75, while Kylie Brino was just one spot lower in 56th in 1:55.05. Ariana Welter was 48th after her first run, but did not finish her second, while Elyse Donaghue was 49th in her first run, but also was unable to close out her second run. Likewise, Hannah Goetz could not finish her first trip down the hill.

For the men, numerous skiers were in the middle of the pack of 122 total starters. Edouard Brochu had the top time of the day, with his two runs combining for 1:31.47, good enough for 47th place overall. Just behind Brochu was Jackson Knobloch with a time of 1:31.62, placing him 51st. Josh Jusiak was one spot lower in 52nd with a time of 1:31.76 and Reed Martin was next in 54th, roughly a second behind Jusiak at 1:32.75.

Five more skiers were placed in the 60s in the field. Aristotle Ninos claimed the 61st spot in 1:34.22, Noah Marino was 62nd in 1:34.31, Pedro Gonzalez ended up 63rd in 1:34.51, and Colin Cotter was next at the 64th position with a time of 1:34.05. The final skier to finish was Evan Phelps, who took 69th with a time of 1:37.28. Both Braden Kruk and Zach Zientko did not finish.
