Holderness, N.H.- Matthew Clarner placed first overall with Joey Rouhana in third to lead the men as the Clarkson University Nordic Skiing team competed in the ECSC Regionals, Saturday morning in New Hampshire. 

Skiers took part in the 7.5 km skate as originally scheduled. Due to weather conditions, day two of regional action that was planned for Sunday is now canceled. 

Clarner continued to pace the field of competition as the freshman has done throughout the whole season, taking first out of 61 skiers at 17:17.50. Rouhana would round out the top three overall in third place at 17:40.22 as he continued to build on his impressive resume in Green and Gold. Phil Matthews of Paul Smith's College finished in second place at 17:28.19. 

Finn Payne crossed the finish line just outside of the top five, in sixth place to continue the Clarkson presence in the top half of skiers, at 18:08.28 while further behind in 11th place, Adam Jansen would come in at 18:33.45. Torsten Brickley (18:53.69) managed to place in the top-20 overall as well, in 18th. 

Further down the board was Silas Bartol (19:34.47) in 27th, Oliver Dolcino (20:15.18) in 32nd and Patrick Murray (23:38.74) in 46th, closing out the day for Clarkson. 

For the women, Skylar Francis led the line again, finishing in the top-20 in 19th place out of 71 skiers, with a 23:30.06 time. Raegan Joly (32:40.02) would cross in 63rd while Clare Janas (34:51.50) finished in 66th place to round out the field for the Golden Knights. 

The men have qualified for the USCSA National Championships scheduled for March 11th-15th in Bend, Oregon, while the women will be waiting on results to determine whether or not they will also make the trip out west.
