Ripton, V.T.- Three skiers in the top 10 of the field set the tone for the Clarkson University Nordic Skiing team, at the Middlebury Invite, Saturday afternoon. The first race of the weekend was the 10k skate, while schools will compete in a classic team skate on Sunday. 

On the men's side, Clarkson would score first, out of nine schools, with just 12 points. Dartmouth (25),the University of Vermont (28) and Paul Smith's College (36) made up the top four overall. 

Matthew Clarner took first place overall, out of a field of 85, posting a 25:16.02 for his third, top finish of 2025. Abram Weil-Cooley of Middlebury finished second at 25:36.00 with Mark Eggener of Dartmouth bringing up third at 25:37.13. Finn Payne (25:29.34) and Joey Rouhana (25:55.94) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, to complete the team scoring for the Golden Knights. Just outside of the top 10, in 11th, was Torsten Brickley, who registered a 26:33.54 finish. 

Further down the leaderboard for the Knights, Silas Bartol (27:26.43) came in at 26th while Adam Jansen (27:28.31) was not far behind in 28th. Oliver Dolcino (28:51.55) and Patrick Murray (33:10.52) rounded out the race for Clarkson in 41st and 56th, respectively. 

For the women, Clarkson would record an eighth place finish, out of 12 schools, with 100 points. Middlebury (10), the University of Vermont (23) and McGill (42) made up the top three for the field. 

Skylar Francis continued to pace the Golden Knights in 13th place, out of 78, finishing at 32:11.37. Raegan Joly (42:00.72) posted a 58th place finish while Clare Janas capped off the team scoring in 74th with a 51:56.22 timestamp.
