Huntington, V.T.- Joey Rouhana and Matthew Clarner earned first and second-place honors, respectively, as the Clarkson Nordic Skiing Team closed out the second day of the Spike Clayton Memorial Invite, Sunday afternoon.
The teams competed in a criterium race, with a predetermined time set for the race and skiers times being registered based on how long they crossed the finish line after the first place skier.
On the men's side Clarkson claimed a team first-place finish with ten points, while the University of Vermont (19), Middlebury (42) and Dartmouth (53) rounded out the top five.
Rouhana was the first skier to cross the finish line, with Clarner crossing one second behind, improving on his finish from Saturday. Further back, in seventh, completing the team scoring for the Golden Knights was Finn Payne at 01:23.5. Torsten Brickley was just outside the top-10 in 11th place with a 01:39.1 timestamp while Silas Bartol rounded out Clarkson's skiers in the top-20 in 16th at 02:28.3.
Completing the event for the Green and Gold were Adam Jansen (03:41.1) in 23rd, Oliver Dolcino (04:13.9) in 25th and Patrick Murray (05:09.4) in 26th.
For the women, Clarkson would place 9th out of 10 teams with a score total of 91. Skylar Francis was the top skier for the Golden Knights with a 21st place finish, 0:04:25 behind first place. Raegan Joly and Clare Janas rounded out the scoring for Clarkson in the 58th and 67th positions, respectively, with Joly finishing 2 laps behind and Janas 3 laps behind the overall leader.
