Box Score
Brockport, NY – After giving up two goals on the opponent's first two possessions of the game in less than two minutes, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team clamped down, allowing only one goal for the remainder of the first half while building its only lead en route to a 17-7 win over Brockport on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 1-1 on the season while Brockport fell to 0-2 in 2024. Clarkson will play its first home game of the young season this Saturday when the team hosts Nazareth University at Hantz Field.

Brockport jumped out to an early lead when Nick Askin scored twice in the opening minutes, but the Clarkson was quick to show it had plenty of offense as well. Clarkson scored on its first two possessions as Thomas Fiebich found Sebastian Geiger at 12:14 and Matt Reilly tallied unassisted at 11:40 to tie the game. Andrew Kearney scored at the 10:02 mark of the opening quarter and Clarkson never trailed again. The Knights posted six goals in the first quarter and kept the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard until Askin finally ended the home team's drought at 9:18 in the third, a stretch of nearly 19 minutes. That lone goal did not change the momentum, however, as Clarkson scored four more times to build an 11-3 lead at the break.

Reilly and Geiger scored in the first six minutes of the third quarter to put the margin at 10 goals for the first time in the game, though Brockport would get another goal from Askin at 6:41 in the third, which ended another long stretch of scoreless play for the Eagles (17:37). Overall, Clarkson allowed only one goal for over 36 minutes, running from the opening minutes of the first to the middle of the third quarter.

No one player lit up the scoreboard for the Knights in their 17 goals. Sebastian Geiger led the way with four points on three goals and an assist, while Matt Reilly, Alex Seiler, and Andrew Kearney each scored three goals and Thomas Fiebich assisted on three goals. Sam Mancabelli (1-1-2) and Vincent Lavarnway (0-2-2) also posted multi-point games.

Griffin Emerson picked up the win for Clarkson, making 14 saves on 19 shots on goal, while Eric Gellasch logged minutes in the fourth quarter, making three saves on five shots on goal. For Brockport, Jack Acker played the first half and had six saves and Gavin Miller made four saves in the second half. Nick Askin led the Golden Eagles with five goals.
