Barnum and Szwagulinski Named All-ECAC Lacrosse

A pair of graduate students earned more spring accolades on Wednesday when Madelynn Barnum of the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team and Matt Szwagulinski of the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team were selected to the ECAC All-Star squads.

The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-five-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools throughout the Northeast across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III.

Barnum was one of three midfielders selected All-ECAC, adding to her list of awards this spring which also include IWLCA Empire Region First-Team All-Star, Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, Liberty League Midfielder of the Year, and USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention.

A five-time Liberty League All-Star, Barnum led the Liberty League in points per game (5.35 ppg), goals per game (4.41 gpg), and shots per game (8.53 spg) with her in-conference numbers not much different (5.00 ppg, 4.10 gpg, 8.50 spg). She also placed third in the league in draw controls per game at 6.00. Barnum scored at least three points in each of the Knights' 17 games this past season, scoring three goals or more in 16 of 17 contests.

Szwagulinski, already a two-time USILA All-American who is in line for a potential third nod, was picked as one of three defenders for All-ECAC.

Szwagulinski, a four-time Liberty League All-Star and First-Team selection in 2025, finished 10th in NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.81), easily the best figure in the Liberty League. Szwagulinski was also the only non-faceoff player that ranked in the top 10 in the conference in groundballs, recording 4.00 per game to place seventh. When considering only Liberty League contests, Szwagulinski ranked fifth in that category with 4.29 per game.
