Fresh off a lopsided season-opening win, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will not have much time to bask in its victory as the Golden Knights head to face Brockport on Saturday afternoon.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The two teams have met nine times, all of which have occurred in the past decade, with Clarkson winning seven times. Four of the games have been decided by a single goal, the Knights coming out on top in three of those close tilts. Last year's contest was not one of those games, as Clarkson cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Golden Eagles.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-0): Twelve difference players recorded a goal in the Knights' season-opener, but plenty of those scores came from familiar names among the top point-producers of 2018. Evan Burgett led the way with six points and Conor Bartlett added five points, with Peter Herrick and Pierce Currie each chipping in four. In two career games against Brockport, Bartlett has been particularly productive, scoring seven points on four goals and three assists. Currie, Shane Kilday and Marcus Lavarnway each scored twice in the win over Brockport last season. It will be interesting to see how long sophomore Kevin Dyckman can keep his scoreless streak intact, as he was not challenged much in 33 minutes against SUNY Canton, making three saves in that stretch.

Key Stats for Brockport (0-0): The Golden Eagles won five games in 14 tries last year thanks to a strong defensive effort coming from goalkeeper Dallas Meyers (6.71 GAA, .627 save percentage), Steve Gurin (64 groundballs, 32 caused turnovers), Pat Quinlivan (42 groundballs, 22 caused turnovers) and Michael Caternolo (56 groundballs, .569 faceoff percentage). However, all of those players are gone due to graduation, leaving a youthful offense needing to pick up the pace. Liam O'Connor led the team in scoring as a freshman (16-6-22) and was followed by classmate Patrick Sheridan (16-3-19). Senior Jake Recor (11-2-13) is the lone player to have scored against the Knights last year. Fellow seniors Billy Coppola and Nick Daigle combined for 21 points on 13 goals and eight assists in 2018.
