CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - at Ithaca College (4/25)

Win or lose, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team will be heading back to Ithaca College this weekend for a playoff game, but the Golden Knights would like to get a good look at the Bombers early to see what is in store for them when the two teams close out the regular season on Wednesday in Ithaca.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: Now a member of the Liberty League, Ithaca and Clarkson will face on another on a regular basis, though it probably won't be with the frequency of the next week. The two teams haven't met since 2000, as Ithaca holds a 24-8 edge in the all-time series.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-7, 3-4 Liberty League): Sophomore Conor Bartlett, who ranks fifth in the league in points per game (3.69) and assists per game (1.54), has accumulated 48 points through 13 games this season, scoring 28 goals to go along with 20 assists. It is the most points compiled by a Clarkson second-year player since Greg Gibbons scored 57 points (39-18-57) in the 2007 season. Bartlett has done damage in both league play (16-20-26) and six non-conference games (12-10-22). Classmate Ryan Gabriel continued his excellent runs on faceoffs on Saturday and has dominated opponents to the tune of a 78.2% winning percentage in the last five games (79-101). For the season, he ranks second in the league in both winning percentage (65.7%) and groundballs per game (5.85 gbpg).

Key Stats for Ithaca (12-2, 5-2 Liberty League): Ranked 15th in the nation, Ithaca is the least penalized squad in the conference. Robby Atwood leads the Liberty League in goals against average (7.01) and ranks second in the league in save percentage (.573). Aaron McCartney (33) and Winston Wenham (31) rank first and second in the league in caused turnovers and are also busy with a combined 105 groundballs. Four players have reached 30 points or more for the Bombers, led by Ryan Ozsvath (33-5-38) and Connor Brumfield (27-11-38). Josh Della Puca has also scored 28 points (16-12-28) in just nine games. Ithaca averages 12.36 goals per game overall, though that numbers drops to 10.71 when looking only at conference contests.
