CU Men's Lacrosse Preview - vs. St. Lawrence University (4/11)

Halfway through the Liberty League slate, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team is sitting in the middle of the pack. The Golden Knights will need to make a move down the stretch if they hope to gain a home playoff contest, and that road begins at Hantz Turf Field on Wednesday when the Green and Gold host their Route 11 rival St. Lawrence University.

The Series: The two teams have met up on 63 previous occasions, with Clarkson gaining 20 victories against 42 losses and a single tie. St. Lawrence is unbeaten in the last four contests, with the Golden Knights gaining a victory in the 2013 postseason as their last win against the Saints.

Key Stats for Clarkson (5-5 overall, 2-2 Liberty League): Sophomore Conor Bartlett continued his personal offensive assault on opponents this past week, adding 12 more points with seven goals and five assists. He now has 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points on the season, with 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) coming in the last four games. Classmate Ryan Gabriel has enjoyed a recent dominant run on faceoffs for the Knights, winning 32 of his last 35 draws overall and gaining the upper hand in six of the last seven games. He is now winning 63.8% of his attempts (120-for-188). Freshman Kevin Dyckman has started the last two games for the Knights, posting an 8.44 goals against average with a .537 save percentage.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (8-2 overall, 3-1 Liberty League): The number one mark for the Knights on Wednesday will be junior Conor Caffrey, who ranks second in the conference in points per game (4.50 ppg) and third in goals per game (2.90). Caffrey has recorded at least two points in every game this year for the Saints, including 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) in the last two contests. Senior Jordan Dow ranks second on the team in scoring with 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists) and sophomore Mike Donnelly is next with 24 points. Fellow sophomore Alex Terry is allowing just 5.37 goals per game in league play with a .600 save percentage, numbers that are just slightly better than his overall tallies of 6.11 and .594. Senior Sam Sweeney is the busiest defender for the Saints, leading the team in both groundballs (43) and caused turnovers (15).
