Set for its final midweek doubleheader, the Clarkson University Baseball team travels Tuesday to take on Oswego State.

The Series: The two teams did not meet last year, but played four games back in 2021. The Golden Knights put up 37 runs in those games, averaging 9.25 per game, only to see Oswego average 11.5 runs per contest.

Key Stats for Clarkson (10-17): For most of the season, the team's top hitter for average has shuffled between Caleb Doyle, Cam Jerrett, and Colby Brouillette, but freshman James Mason has now accrued enough plate appearances to qualify under collegiate rules and is hitting .375/.423/453 through 64 at bats. Mason has been rolling as of late, going 15-for-32 over the last two weeks with three doubles, eight runs scored, and five RBI. Still in the hunt for top average are Colby Brouillette (.333), Cam Jerrett (.329), Jake Millich (.323), and Joe Pagano (.314), as one good weekend can send averages soaring.

Key Stats for Oswego State (15-15): The Lakers' offense is down a little bit from its ridiculous heights a few years ago. As a team in 2021, Oswego hit .356/.463/.512 with 112 stolen bases in 32 games. Even last year the team rolled out to a .325/.435/.512 slash line with 134 stolen bases. However, Oswego has seen its average, slugging, and stolen bases slide back to the norm in 2023, as the team is batting .299 with a .440 slugging percentage and averaging 2.2 stolen bases per game, as opposed to the 3.15 stolen bases the team averaged in 2021-22. Owen Parliment is the team's top hitter with seven home runs and 11 doubles as well as 29 RBI. Jelani Hamer and Jacob Levine have also hit five home runs, with Hamer also contributing 16 stolen bases in just 17 attempts.
