Weather seems to alter the plans of the games between the Clarkson University Baseball team and RIT each year, and 2023 has proven no different as the Golden Knights and Tigers have shifted their conference doubleheader to Monday morning at Jack Phillips Stadium.

The Series: The two teams split a shortened series last year, as day two was washed out before the third game became official, with Clarkson winning the first game 8-4. In 2021, two doubleheaders were played eight days apart, and the teams also split both of those twin bills. Clarkson and RIT also matched up in the Liberty League Tournament in 2022, with the Golden Knights eliminating the Tigers from the bracket, 7-6, thanks to two runs in the final two innings.

Key Stats for Clarkson (4-9, 3-0 Liberty League): The Golden Knights opened conference play with a three-game sweep of Hobart College last weekend, pounding out 31 hits in the day two doubleheader. Grad student Caleb Doyle and sophomore Cam Jerrett are two of nine players in the Liberty League with on-base percentages of .500 or better, as Jerrett is seventh in the conference at .514 and Doyle is eighth at .509. Junior pitcher Nicholas Hofacker has turned in some solid outings early on in the campaign, posting a 2.74 earned run average and 1.04 WHIP with 22 strikeouts in 23 innings, having allowed just 16 hits and eight walks in 2023.

Key Stats for RIT (6-6, 0-0 Liberty League): The Tigers had their first conference series washed out last weekend. RIT leads the conference in earned run average at 3.96, having allowed just 71 hits in 100 innings with 122 strikeouts. John Arnold has given up just a .175 batting average in 18.2 innings with 26 strikeouts, and Jon Opalewski has a .222 opponents' average in 17 innings with 24 strikeouts. Ian Libby leads the team on offense with a .429/.517/.551 slash line, and Chris Reilly is slugging .529 with 10 doubles. Jarin Moses has also struck four home runs in just 42 at bats.
