Box Score
Davenport, FL - Caleb Doyle and Mike Nee each recorded three hits as the Clarkson University Baseball team earned a 5-3 win over Penn State Altoona after a lengthy weather delay on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona, but due to time constraints for PS-Altoona, the matchup was shortened to a single seven-inning contest. Clarkson improved to 2-0 on the season, while Altoona returns to Pennsylvania with a 3-8 record. Clarkson faces another school from Pennsylvania on Sunday, as the team is scheduled for a doubleheader against Franklin & Marshall.

Clarkson scored a run in each of the first four innings to take an early advantage. Leading off the first, Doyle doubled down the left field line and then scored on a single up the middle from Kent Wilson. With two outs in the frame, Zachary Carpin tripled home Wilson for a 2-0 Clarkson advantage. In the second, Kyle Locklear reached when he was hit by a pitch and advanced into scoring position on a stolen base. Doyle then singled him home to put Clarkson up 3-0. Altoona scored once in the bottom of the second on a fielder's choice, but Clarkson came right back in the top of the third as Mike Nee led off the inning with a double to right. Tommy Bianchi then singled in Nee to return the advantage to three runs.

In the top of the fourth, Clarkson again was able to manufacture a run. Sean Gill led off with a single up the middle and Caleb Doyle followed with a single. A fielder's choice and ground out put runners on second and third with two outs, setting up Mike Nee's single through the right side to plate Gill. Altoona responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth as Garrett Alauzen doubled in a run and later came around on a single from Grayson McClain. However, Altoona would not challenge the Knights in the bottom of the seventh, as Nicholas Hofacker set the team down in order to close out the contest.

Glenn Stever started the game and struck out four over two innings for the Knights. Hofacker came on in relief in the third, and he finished off the contest's final five innings by scattering seven hits.
