Numerous scenarios remain for the Clarkson University Baseball team, but the Golden Knights still have an outside chance at hosting the Liberty League Tournament next weekend if everything rolls right. However, the Golden Knights will first have to take care of Route 11 rival St. Lawrence University this weekend as the two teams are set for a four-game series with doubleheaders at each location.

The Green and Gold will head to Canton to play two games against the Saints on Saturday and then Clarkson will play host to St. Lawrence on Sunday, celebrating the 10 seniors who have spent four years with the Golden Knights' baseball program.

The Series: The two teams did not face one another in 2016, but in the previous three matchups, Clarkson came away with wins in eight of the 12 games. Last year, Clarkson won three of four, losing the first game by a run but then outscoring the Saints 26-9 over the final three games.

Key Stats for Clarkson (17-15, 11-7 Liberty League): Although the first eight at bats of his career came up empty, sophomore Mike Mieczkowski, named Liberty League Performer of the Week on Tuesday, has been making up for lost time. Mieczkowski is hitting .378/.510/.486 in 49 plate appearances this year, with almost all of that damage coming in April since the RIT series. Freshman Mike Nee also had to wait a little bit before seeing regular playing time as he has a .368/.472/.386 line in 21 games. However, Nee has been most impressive when playing conference opponents, batting .462/.551/.487 in 14 Liberty League games. Jake Scurrah, another freshman, has quietly been impressive on the mound. Although his 3.60 earned run average and 1.60 WHIP don't scream dominance, Scurrah has struck out 27 of the 73 hitters he has faced, or 37 percent of the batters to step in the box against him.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (7-26, 5-15 Liberty League): Not a lot has gone right for the Saints this year, though St. Lawrence has won at least one game in all five of its conference series this year, including two sure-fire post-season teams and a third likely entrant. The Saints have struggled at the plate (.250/.348/.324), with all three slash stats ranking last by at least 24 points. St. Lawrence is also eighth in the conference in fielding percentage at .940 and the team is last in earned run average at 8.24. Andrew Circelli is the team's top hitter with a .296/.393/.490 line bolstered by three home runs and 10 doubles. Nicholas Butler (.303/.384/.352) and Joe DeGuardia (.299/.368/.351) also have solid numbers across the board. On the mound, Alex Black is the only regularly used pitcher with an earned run average below 5.00, as he has posted a 4.91 rate in 44 innings of work, which includes 39 strikeouts.
