Box Score
Canton, NY – Putting up crooked numbers in five different innings, the Clarkson University Baseball team reached a new season-high in runs scored in a game in an 19-6 non-league victory over SUNY Canton on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 14-11 on the season while Canton dropped to 5-23. Clarkson is scheduled to take on Bard College some time in the next few days, though Friday's doubleheader has already been cancelled and Saturday's twin bill may be moved as well.

Clarkson didn't take long to get on the scoreboard, putting up four runs in the first before Canton got its first hacks. Mike Tito led off with a single and moved up to third on a Brad Pearson single. Michael Mieczkowski then singled through the left side to plate Tito and a two-run double by Mike Krick sent Pearson and Mieczkowski around to score. Joe Stockman continued the offensive surge with a single to center to score Krick. Canton responded with two runs in the bottom of the first, getting one on a ground out and another on a single from Brandon Bautista.

The Knights pushed three more across in the fourth as the bases were loaded by two hit by pitches and a single. Pearson sent all three runners home with a double to deep center to give Clarkson a 7-2 advantage. Canton responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning without having a ball reach the outfield.

In the sixth, Clarkson began to pull away with three more runs. Tito singled and Nolan Duda sent him to third with a single through the right side. Pearson and Mieczkowski each singled home a run and then Sean Gill plated another with a fielder's choice. The next inning saw the Knights put up three more runs on the scoreboard. Mike Bonk walked and then moved to third on a Kyle Locklear double to left. Both moved up a base on a wild pitch, with Bonk scoring Clarkson's 11th run. Tito then knocked in Locklear and later came around on a passed ball.

Bautista doubled home a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Clarkson was far from finished. The Knights pushed five more runs across in the top of the eighth, with plenty of pinch-hitters coming in to do the damage.

Tito finished 4-for-6 at the plate with four runs scored and Pearson went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and four more driven in. Michael Mieczkowski also had a pair of hits in five at bats and drove home three runs.
