CU Golf Preview - at St. Lawrence Invitational (9/6-7)

After a solid start to the season Wednesday, the Clarkson University Golf team heads down Route 11 for its first 36-hole event of fall 2025 as the Golden Knights compete in the annual St. Lawrence Fall Invitational, held this weekend at the par-72 Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course.

The Team: Last season, junior Ryan Makowski continued to control the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course as well as any recent Clarkson golfer, going one-under for the two-day event to win by four strokes with a score of 143. As a freshman two years ago, Makowski tied for fourth at the SLU Invitational, recording a 151 when he was just one-over on day-two of the event after notching a 78 in his first competitive round in Canton (averaging 73.5 strokes in four rounds for his collegiate career). Classmate Eric Spoth has also played well in Canton, scoring 154 as a freshman and 150 a year ago, which was good enough for fifth, averaging 76 strokes per round at the course. Sophomore Tyler Yacawych also produced solid results in his first run in Canton a year ago when he shot 153 (74/79) to tie for 10th in the field.

Junior Jace Dutch has averaged 78.5 strokes through four rounds at the SLU Invite in the past two years, while classmate Joe Tiderencel trimmed 11 strokes off his score between his freshman and sophomore campaigns. Luke Weisiger performed well in his first shot in Canton (159), but saw his score back up a little last year (167). Aaron Walsh, the lone senior for the Knights, has averaged 82.17 strokes per round in six tries in Canton.
