After a weekend off, the Clarkson University Golf team will play in a pair of tournaments and three total 18-hole rounds over the course of four days, first competing at the Kangaroos Invitational on Thursday in Canton and then over the weekend in the Castleton Invitational in Vermont.

The Courses: The Golden Knights have some familiarity with Partridge Run Golf Course, a par-72, 6569-yard course just down the road in Canton. The last few years the Knights have traveled to play in Castleton's tournament, which is held at the par-70 Rutland Country Club.

The Team: It should be a full group of competitors in Canton on Thursday, as the short trip will create two teams for the Knights with the possibility of an individual as well, while a smaller travel squad will head to Vermont for the weekend. Junior Eric Spoth shot a season-low 67 last year at Partridge Run, including a hole-in-one on the eighth hole, en route to winning the one-day event by nine strokes. He also shot 147 over two days at Castleton last season, which tied him for second in that tournament. Classmate Ryan Makowski won the Castleton Invitational by one stroke over his classmate last year, scoring 73 on back-to-back days, which was 10 strokes better than his performance at the same course during his freshman campaign.

Besides Spoth, the team generally had a little trouble at Partridge Run last year, though the scores were respectable. Makowski, Aaron Walsh, and Luke Weisiger each shot 79, while Tyler Yacawych recorded an 80 in his first competitive round at the course. Walsh also shot 78 at Partridge in 2023, while Jace Dutch recorded an 80.
