Barnum Produces Eight Points in Knights 17-9 Win Against Juniata

Davenport, FL – Grad student Madelynn Barnum had a part in nearly half of the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team's goals as the Golden Knights claimed a 17-9 victory over Juniata College on Thursday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 5-2 on the year while Juniata saw its record fall to 2-4. Clarkson flies home shortly and will head straight to Bard College for a Liberty League contest on Saturday.

Though Juniata scored while up a player in the first minute of the game, the rest of the opening quarter belonged to the Golden Knights, with Clarkson scoring six times in the final 10 minutes of that first period, including a goal with only two ticks left on the clock from Makenna Cassin.

The second and third quarters were even with each team scoring six times, as the Knights maintained their five-goal lead after three quarters. In the fourth, Clarkson began to pull away thanks to back-to-back goals from Barnum at 10:27 and 9:05, allowing for a comfortable cushion down the stretch.

Clarkson won the battle in terms of total shots (38-29), draw controls (21-10), and groundballs (23-12). Barnum led the way offensively with eight points, scoring six unassisted goals and helping out on two others. Cassin added in four points with three goals and an assist and Brooklynne Perrigo scored three goals. Gabby Cranfield also had three points on two goals and an assist and Sydney Nakas scored a pair of goals. Jennaca McGill made three saves in roughly 21 minutes and Riley Donovan stopped 11 shots over the final 39 minutes.

For Juniata, Peyton Goodrich scored three times while Devyn Mauger and Kelliann Drummond each scored twice. Mikayla Bodley had 13 saves for the Eagles.
