Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Cranfield Scores Eight Points in Knights 18-5 Win at Bard

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – Holding the home team to just one shot in the first half, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse spent much of the opening 30 minutes on offense in cruising to an 18-5 win over Bard College in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 6-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference games while Bard fell to 0-8 and 0-2. Clarkson heads to University of Rochester next Saturday for another league matchup.

Clarkson won 12 of the first 14 draws in the opening half and also limited Bard to only one total shot in the first 30 minutes. The Knights took advantage of all that possession with 12 first half goals, scoring five times in the first quarter and seven more in the second. Gabby Cranfield opened the scoring at 13:40 and Madelynn Barnum tallied twice in the next two minutes for an early 3-0 lead. Clarkson was relatively quiet for the remainder of the quarter, though Morgan Kenna scored twice, including while the Knights were up a player in the final 30 seconds of the period.

The Knights scored only once in the first portion of the second quarter, but found the back of the net six times in the final seven-and-a-half minutes. Brooklynne Perrigo and Morgan Kenna each scored twice in the quarter as the Knights rolled out to an 11-goal lead.

The clock would run for much of the remainder of the game, though Bard did pull back to within nine near the middle of the third thanks to back-to-back goals from Emerson Embrey. However, Bella Perrigo would score less than a minute after the second of Embrey's goals to keep things moving once again.

Clarkson finished the game with a 38-7 lead in shots and a 29-6 edge in shots on goal.

Gabby Cranfield posted eight points on three goals and five assists to lead the Knights on offense. Kenna added five points with four goals and one helper and Barnum tossed in four points on three goals and an assist while also adding in eight draw controls. Riley Donovan and Jennaca McGill each made one save for the Knights, splitting goalkeeping duties at 30 minutes apiece.

Emerson Embrey led the way for Bard with three goals, adding in three draws, two caused turnovers, and four groundballs. Lexie Blackburn had 11 stops for the Raptors.
