Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Knights Can't Keep Up With Thoroughbreds in 17-4 Loss

Saratoga Springs, NY – Down by five in the first eight minutes, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team could never recover from its early deficit against Skidmore College, as the Golden Knights dropped a 17-4 decision on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 8-6 on the season and 3-5 in the Liberty League while Skidmore moved to 8-7 and 5-3. Clarkson hosts St. Lawrence University in its last home game of the season on Wednesday, April 24th.

Although Skidmore was up by five in eight minutes, most of those goals came in a very short period of time. Skidmore's first goal came at 11:24 and its fifth was scored at 7:07, making it a stretch of 4:17 for five goals. Hailey Millington finally broke through for the Knights at 4:18 and then scored early in the second quarter, slowing the expansion of the Thoroughbreds lead. The second quarter was even until Elizabeth Walsh scored with one second left on the clock at the end of the half.

In the third, Skidmore put the game away late as Jillian Lockwood scored at 2:43 and Lily Schwartzman found the netting with 50 seconds remaining to put the Thoroughbreds up by 10 and keep the clock running.

Millington and Makenna Cassin each scored two goals for the Knights while both Julia Lavarnway and Madelynn Barnum provided two assists in the game. Rylee Ganter and Maeve Bartell scooped up three groundballs and Ireland Morgia gained possession on four draws. In net, Jennaca McGill made six saves and both Riley Donovan and Clare Tucker made one stop.

For Skidmore, Maddy Marr had five points on two goals and three assists. Maeve McKinley, Schwartzman, and Lockwood each scored three goals. Ella Harris picked up four groundballs and had six draws. Liv Kazanjian made 11 saves in the crease for Skidmore.

Overall, Skidmore had a 34-20 lead in shots (25-15 shots on goal). The margin for groundballs (20-17) and draws (12-11) was also in the Thoroughbreds narrow favor.
