Knights Cruise Past Plattsburgh State, 21-4

Potsdam, NY – From the opening faceoff, the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team was in control on Wednesday as the Golden Knights opened up a double-digit lead at the half and never looked back, claiming a 21-4 non-league victory over Plattsburgh State at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 3-3 overall while the Cardinals fell to 3-3. Clarkson will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when the team takes on Hartwick College.

The Green and Gold had an overwhelming advantage in shots in the opening quarter (23-1) and in the first half overall (42-5) with an equally impressive edge in shots on goal in the first 30 minutes of the game (29-2). Clarkson had five different goal scores in the first quarter with only Sam Mancabelli and Sebastian Geiger coming through as repeats. The second quarter showed just as diverse of an offense with seven different goal scores among the eight goals, as only Matt Reilly had back-to-back goals while also assisting on the first goal of the period, his 100th career point.

By the start of the third, the game was easily in hand, and the Knights put in a number of reserves, though the offense was still humming along, scoring six goals in the final 30 minutes, producing 22 shots.

Reilly topped the century mark with a flourish, scoring six points overall on three goals and three assists. Sebastian Geiger notched four points on three goals and an assist, while both Mario Streiff and Sam Mancabelli had three points (2-1-3). Overall, 17 different players scored at least one point and 14 different players produced a goal. Logan Wilkinson went 9-for-10 on faceoffs and had six groundballs and Max Miller was 10-for-11 with five groundballs.

For Plattsburgh, Donald Woods led the offense with three points on a goal and two assists and Cam Morin had two points with one goal and one assist. Connor Vanella caused two turnovers and had four groundballs.

Clarkson had three goalies split time, with none playing as much as 24 minutes in the game. Griffin Emerson and Brett Bohlmann each had two saves in the game. At the other end, Dan Clements was busy with 19 saves as Clarkson outshot Plattsburgh 64-18 overall.
