Geiger Scores 100th Career Goal in Knights 19-7 Win Over Hartwick

Potsdam, NY – Odd numbered quarters saw the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team rack up the goals as the Golden Knights built an early lead against Hartwick College and never look back, with the Green and Gold coming away with a 19-7 non-league win on Saturday afternoon at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-3 on the season while Hartwick fell to 2-3 on the year. Clarkson begins Liberty League play next weekend at Union College.

Although Hartwick scored the first goal of the game less than three minutes into the contest, it was the Knights who would dominate the quarter. Sebastian Geiger and Andrew Kearney each scored twice in the quarter, as Clarkson rolled out to a 6-1 lead, forcing Hartwick to use both of its timeouts in the first period. Although Clarkson's scoring pace would slow in the second, the Knights' defense stood out, allowing just two shots on goal and forcing eight turnovers.

At the start of the third, Sebastian Geiger recorded his fourth goal of the game (and the 100th of his career) to put the Knights up 11-2. Hartwick picked up a goal less than a minute later to put the margin back to eight, but the Knights responded with six straight goals to put the game out of reach.

Eleven different players scored at least one goal, led by Geiger's four goals. Andrew Kearney also added three goals while Tyler Hall, Matt Reilly, and Connor Matthews each scored three points on two goals and an assist. Logan Wilkinson scooped up nine groundballs and Matt Szwagulinski caused three turnovers. In the Clarkson crease, Brett Bohlmann made nine saves.

For Hartwick, Garrett Frost had four points with three goals and an assist and Seth Bello had a goal and one helper. Liam Downey forced three turnovers and Daniel Beltran recorded six groundballs. Chris Andersen stopped 13 shots for Hartwick.

Overall, the Knights finished with a 52-28 edge in shots (32-16 shots on goal) and won the battle on the ground with 47 groundballs to Hartwick's 31.
