The Series vs. RIT: The first meeting between the two teams was postponed due to snow and was rescheduled for February 12, so the Golden Knights are now in a position to host the first game. Clarkson is 26-15 all-time against RIT, but has lost the past four games by an average of 18.5 points per game.
The Series vs. William Smith: The Golden Knights have lost three straight and four of the past five against the Herons, including a 71-33 defeat on January 18. It was a rough outing for the Knights as Clarkson suffered through its worst shooting performance (12-for-73) in more than a decade.
Key Stats for Clarkson (6-11, 3-7 Liberty League): The Knights have taken more 3-pointers (435) than any other team in the conference, but have also made more (122) than any other in the league. Clarkson has a chance at some individual/teammate history in 2018-19 as both
Molly Stewart and
Carly Assimon are on pace to make 50 3-pointers this year, a feat that has not occurred at Clarkson in the 30-plus year run of the 3-point line at the collegiate level. Stewart ranks third in the conference in 3-pointers with 43 and Assimon is sixth with 35 makes. Stewart also ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 15.2 points per game.
Key Stats for RIT (11-6, 6-4 Liberty League):Â No other team in the Liberty League relies on its starters more than the Tigers. The starting five at RIT play 80.9% of the minutes and score 90.4% of the team's points. Four players are averaging double figures in scoring, led by Sabrina Wolfe's 14.4 points per game. Brooke Stanley (13.7 ppg), Cori Okada (12.2 ppg) and Tara Lynch (11.4 ppg) are the other three players reaching double digits. Okada is also the conference's leader in assists per game (5.1 apg) while Alyssa Juergens leads the team in rebounding (8.6 rpg). RIT has forced 295 turnovers this year, with 172 coming as steals.
Key Stats for William Smith (10-7, 6-5 Liberty League): Whatever way you want to look at it, the Herons had Clarkson's number in the first game two weeks ago. William Smith held a 69-37 edge in rebounds, with 24 coming on the offensive glass. The Herons shot 40.0% from the field (30-for-75) while holding Clarkson to 5-for-39 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc (12.8%) and just 7-for-34 inside the arc (20.6%). Senior Mia Morrison is one of the leading contenders for conference player of the year, averaging 19.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 45.1% from the floor. Juliana Gamboa is contributing across the board with 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
