#1 Clarkson Makes Final Regular-Season Road Trip

With the regular season winding down, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team has its sights set upon claiming its second straight ECAC Hockey title and the fourth regular-season crown in the program's 14-year history. Perched atop the conference standings, the Golden Knights, guided by 10th-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and assistants Britni Smith and Tony Maci own a 16-2 ECAC Hockey record and are two points ahead of second-place Colgate with four games remaining in the regular season.

The hottest team in the country, Clarkson is #1 in the national polls and takes a 15-game winning streak into its final road trip this weekend. The Knights, with a 26-3-1 overall record, will play Princeton in New Jersey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and then face off against Quinnipiac in Hamden, CT on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 3:00 p.m. The Bobcats are the last team to defeat the Green and Gold, skating to a 3-2 overtime victory at Cheel Arena on November 17.

Clarkson extended the nation's longest current winning streak with a pair of victories at Cheel Arena last weekend, defeating Brown(4-0) and Yale (2-1).

• The Golden Knights, led by Captain Savannah Harmon and Assistant Captains Lauren Lefler, Shea Tiley, Amanda Titus and Cassidy Vinkle, have outscored their opponents 123-39. Clarkson boast the fourth-best scoring offense and third-rated defense in the country. The Knights are averaging 4.10 goals per game, while allowing only 1.30. Clarkson has outscored its opponents 40-15 in the first nine games of 2018.
• One of the top lines in the NCAA powers the Knights' offense. Junior left wing Loren Gabel, freshman right wing Elizabeth Giguere and sophomore center Michaela Pejzlova ranked 1-2-3 in ECAC Hockey scoring.
• Named HCA National Player of the Month for January, Gabel is making a strong case to be mentioned as a Top 3 Patty Kazmaier Finalist. She has tallied 58 points through 30 games, and is one goal shy of tying Clarkson's single-season goal mark of 29 set by 2014 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Jamie Lee Rattary '14 in 2013-14. Gabel has scored at least one goal in each of the last nine games and has a 13 games point streak with 16 goals and 13 assists. She ranks seventh on the all-time Clarkson scoring charts with 127 career points (68-59) through 111 games.
• Giguere follows right behind with 57 points, including a conference-high 36 assists. She has recorded at least one point in all, but one game this season. Giguere was named ECAC Rookie of the Week for the 10th time this season and conference Rookie of the Month for the third time (October, December, January).
• Pejzlova has 38 points on 20 goals and 18 assists.
• Tiley backstops Clarkson's stingy defensive effort as one of the top goaltenders in the country. She posts a 1.37 GAA (3rd in the NCAA), a .936 save percentage (4th) and a .879 win% (3rd) on a 25-3-1 record, including eight shutouts (T-2nd).
• Harmon is sixth in the nation for scoring by defensemen with 27 points (7-20) and third among conference blueliners in ECAC Hockey scoring with 17 league points (5-12).
Jenna Brenneman made 23 saves in the win over Brown to post the shutout in her first career start.

The Series:
In the all-time series, Clarkson has a 17-12-2 record against Princeton and is unbeaten in its last 10 games against the Tigers (9-0-1). The Golden Knights won the first game the two teams played earlier this season behind a balanced scoring attack. The Knights came away with a 4-0 win with four different scorers. Michaela Pejzlova scored a goal and an assist, and Savannah Harmon had two assists. Rhyen McGill, Meaghan Hector, and Taylor Turnquist also scored for the Golden Knights. Loren Gabel has scored six goals and has three assists in six games against Princeton. Shea Tiley is 8-0-0 against the Tigers. Tiley owns a 1.27 goal against average and a .942 save percentage in the series.

The Golden Knights are 21-11-4 against Quinnipiac, however, the Bobcats have found some success in recent history against the Knights. Clarkson has only won three of its last 10 games against Quinnipiac. The Knights were on a three-game winning streak until the Bobcats defeated Clarkson 3-2 in overtime back in November. Clarkson had a 2-1 lead midway through the third period, but gave up a power-play goal to push the game into overtime. The game was ended 25 seconds into overtime with Quinnipiac's game-winner. No Clarkson skater has more than three points against the Bobcats in their careers. Savannah Harmon has three assists to lead the Knights in points. Quinnipiac has been a thorn in the side of Shea Tiley who is 3-6-1 against the Bobcats. Even though she is below .500 against Quinnipiac, Tiley has a 1.33 goal against average and a .932 save percentage.

Scouting Princeton
Coming down the home stretch, Princeton is 10-11-4 overall and 8-9-1 in ECAC play. The Tigers are in sixth place in the conference, five points behind Quinnipiac for the fifth spot. Princeton has a 7-3-3 record in home games this season and is 4-1-1 in their last six contests at Hobey Baker Rink. This past weekend, the Tigers beat Union 4-0 and lost to RPI 4-2, ending a four-game win streak.

Scouting Quinnipiac
Quinnipiac, which hosts St. lawrence on Friday, has an overall record of 15-13-2 and is 11-7-0 in conference games. The Bobcats have 22 points and are in fifth place, three points away from third in the conference. Quinnipiac has been much more successful at home this season than on the road, holding a 9-5-0 record in Hamden. Quinnipiac swept RPI (2-0) and Union (4-2) on the road last weekend.
