For the first time in nearly two decades, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team will open conference play in November as the Golden Knights host Liberty League foes Rensselaer and Skidmore this weekend at Alumni Gymnasium.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series vs. Rensselaer: The two teams split last year's games with each winning at home. Rensselaer claimed a 15-point win in Troy while Clarkson won on Senior Night by eight points. The Golden Knights have won four of the last five meetings against the Engineers.

The Series vs. Skidmore: The Thoroughbreds won both games by double figures last season (67-57, 69-58) and Skidmore has won four of the past five meetings. Clarkson trails in the all-time series by 10 games, winning 23 while losing 33.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-2): Somewhat shorthanded due to injuries, Clarkson has struggled on defense, ranking last in the conference in defensive field goal percentage (45.6%) and 3-point field goal percentage (41.2%). The Golden Knights' offense trails the opposition in field goal percentage, 3-point field goal percentage, and free throw percentage, but Clarkson has done an outstanding job thus far of taking care of the basketball with just 38 turnovers while forcing its opponents to commit 50. Sophomore Carly Assimon ranks seventh in the conference in scoring at 15.7 points per game and has scored at least 15 points in all three contests.

Key Stats for Rensselaer (5-1): It may be a battle all season long for scoring bragging rights for RPI as three players currently average 15 or more points per game. Elizabeth Eckhardt hits from the outside at a rate of 39.2% from the 3-point line for 15.5 points per game while both Ines Ortea (15.5 ppg) and LaKissa Martin (15.0 ppg) have done their damage inside and from the free throw line. Both Ortea and Martin, along with Courtney Lewis, average better than seven rebounds per game, giving the Engineers a plus-8.2 rpg advantage over opponents. Rensselaer is also forcing teams into 21.7 turnovers per game, averaging 12 steals per contest.

Key Stats for Skidmore (1-4): The graduation of three-time Liberty League Player of the Year Kelly Donnelly has changed the dynamic for the Thoroughbreds in 2018-19 as Skidmore has struggled on offense without a go-to player. The team is averaging 42 points per game and ranks last in the conference in field goal percentage (25.9%) and 3-point field goal percentage (14.6%). Haley English leads the team in scoring at 8.8 points per contest. Taylor Ong is first for Skidmore in rebounding at 8.0 boards per game and Lilly Berg contributes 6.6 rpg, with 42 percent of those coming on the offensive end.
