YOUNGMANN SCORES 18 AS KNIGHTS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT

Potsdam, NY - Sophomore forward Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) shot 8-for-12 from the floor for a team-high 18 points as the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team held on for a 68-63 win over non-conference foe Utica College Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-6 overall with their second straight win, while Utica fell to 3-4 on the season. Clarkson returns to action on Thursday when they visit Oswego State.

The first half was played even with the Knights owning a two-point edge after 20 minutes, but Clarkson controlled play for the first 13 minutes of the second half, pushing their advantage to 59-44. Utica crept back within striking distance and made the score 59-54 with a 10-0 run with just over three and a half minutes remaining. The score closed to within as few as three, but Clarkson held on with free throws at the end of the game.

Chet Truskowski (Hammond, NY) scored 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting to go along with five assists, two steals and two blocks. Erick Vigansky (Kenosha, WI) also produced double digits, scoring 11 points, including three 3-point field goals.

Tim Troy led the Pioneers with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Justin Cichon scored a game-high 20 points for Utica.
