Justin, a native of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec, has been a standout player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In the 2024–25 season, he played 53 games for the Quebec Remparts, recording 32 goals and 27 assists for 59 points. His leadership and performance on the ice earned him the captaincy of the Remparts.

A second-round pick (21st overall) by the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the 2020 QMJHL Entry Draft, Côté quickly made an impact—earning a spot on the QMJHL All-Rookie Team and tying for the most rookie goals during the 2020–21 season. Over five seasons in the QMJHL, he was remarkably prolific, tallying 233 points (122 goals, 111 assists) in 250 regular-season games, with an additional 22 points in 32 playoff appearances.  Côté reached the pinnacle of league success in 2023–24, capturing the President’s Cup as a QMJHL champion, before being traded to the Québec Remparts for the 2024–25 season. There, he continued his strong play, scoring 59 points (32 goals, 27 assists) in 54 regular-season games, earning recognition as the team’s top point producer.
