Middlebury, VT - Graduate student Gianna Capoccia and junior Drew Reigelsperger produced the top times for the Clarkson University Cross Country team, as the Golden Knights competed in another small race, this time at the Aldrich Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College.

The Golden Knights' men placed third out of three teams with 60 points, narrowly behind Saint Michael's (58) and also behind the host Panthers (17), while the women edged Saint Michael's by a single point, scoring 63 ahead of the Purple Knights' 64 with both teams trailing Middlebury (15). Clarkson will be in a larger race next weekend and will also be closer to home, competing in the annual Hoffmann Invitational at St. Lawrence University.

Capoccia was behind numerous runners from the nationally-ranked Middlebury squad, but still made it inside the top 20 of the event, placing 19th overall (43 runners) with a time of 25 minutes, 23.8 seconds in the 6000-meter event. She was a full minute faster than any of her teammates, as it was Janneke Baks across the finish line next for the Knights, placing 25th in 26:41.6. Fellow first-year collegian Meagan Speizer was third for Clarkson, taking the 28th spot in 26:49.4, and only one-tenth of a second back of Speizer was junior Skylar Francis in 29th place. Elizabeth Kraynak closed out Clarkson's team score by placing 36th overall in 30:21.1.

On the men's side, the Knights had a pair of runners in the top 10 of the 56-runner race. Reigelsperger was seventh overall in 27:21.0 (8k) and sophomore Matthew Clarner was right there with his teammate until the end, finishing in 27:21.1, good enough for eighth. James Lynch was roughly 25 seconds behind the pair, taking 15th in 27:48.3, and fellow sophomore Frank Consolazio was seven seconds behind Lynch at 27:55.3, coming in 19th. Finley Knappe was the final scoring runner for Clarkson, crossing the line for 26th with a time of 28:51.1.
