Knights Shut Out Versus Wisconsin River Falls

Auburndale, FL – A day after pushing 21 runs across, the Clarkson University Baseball team's bats were quieted in the team's final contest of its Florida trip, falling 10-0 to Wisconsin-River Falls on Monday morning.

The Golden Knights return north with a record of 6-3 overall and face University of Rochester this weekend for a three-game series.

Clarkson had a little bit going in the first thanks to a couple of miscues by the Falcons, but the Knights were unable to get any runs despite the pressure on the UW River Falls defense. The Falcons loaded the bases on a couple of infield singles and a walk in the bottom of the second, and that was enough for the big blow of the inning as Max Krebs hit a grand slam to put the tally at 4-0.

In the fourth, River Falls scored two more, the first coming home an RBI groundout and the second circling on an infield error to put it at 6-0. Ryan Eckerle delivered a single in the fifth to add another run, and a two-out, two-run hit from JV Castillo made it 9-0 in the sixth. That meant that the Falcons needed just one more run to end the contest early, and River Falls got that run in the seventh when Patrick Lundgren's infield single drove in the finisher.

Clarkson had just an infield hit through the first five frames as the Knights' offense was sent down by Cade Bruett. The Green and Gold did finish with four walks and three hits, but the team was unable to push any runs across.

CJ Kanick took the loss for Clarkson, striking out three over five innings, while Carter Gould fanned a pair in 1.2 innings of work. James Mason had the team's first hit, while James Chagnon and Cam Jerrett also added hits later in the contest.
