In the Golden Knights' last home game of the regular season, they were able to score 3 against the Quinnipiac Bobcats for a 3-1 victory. With the win the Golden Knights jump up into 4th place in the ECAC and control their own destiny for a first round bye in the ECAC Playoffs.
Ten minutes into the first period of play the Golden Knights were put onto a power play where they were able to score the first goal of the game. After receiving the puck from Caroline Goffredo at the goal line, Jenna Goodwin carried the puck to the center of the right faceoff circle and ripped a shot over Kaley Doyle's head that bounced off the crossbar into the net. Five minutes later, Quinnipiac's Kahlen Lamarche answered back for the Bobcats and tied the game.
Fifteen minutes into the second period, the Golden Knights were able to regain the lead with a goal from Nicole Gosling. With Rhea Hicks on an offensive rush, she was able to gain the blue line, feed to Anne Cherkowski who hit the trailing Gosling. Nicole walked in and fired the shot that found the back of the net for what would be the game winning tally.
After nearly twenty minutes of scoreless play in the third period Sena Catterall was able to breakaway from Quinnipiac's six skaters and score an empty net goal to seal the deal for the Golden Knights with two seconds left in the game.
Holly Gruber ended senior night with 20 saves and her 9th win of the season.
The Knights have 34.5 league points a full 2 ahead of Yale and Quinnipiac who are tied for 5th. Clarkson will travel to 11th place Dartmouth and last place Harvard to end the regular season. Yale will finish at Cornell and Colgate, while Quinnipiac and Princeton (who can still move up into the top 4 also) finish hosting RPI and Yale. A win and a tie should be the minimum amount of points needed to clinch the 4th seed.
After the game the team honored the Class of 2025; Gretchen Branton, Jenna Goodwin, Holly Gruber, Baylee Kirwan, Alexa Madrid, Andie Proulx, and Haley Winn. Academically, the Class of 2025 has attained a cumulative class GPA of 3.66. On the ice, they have attained 104 career wins while scoring 250 combined points. Clarkson University and the Women's Ice Hockey team would like to acknowledge the dedication, hard work, and commitment that all of this year's graduating seniors have brought to the program.
