Everett, Cartier, and Cibelli Claim Two Events Each in Knights Meet at Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY – Juniors Casey Everett and Mason Cartier each won a pair of individual events, as did diver Gavin Cibelli, to help lead the Clarkson University Swimming & Diving team to a split as the men won and women lost against Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights' men won by 57 points, 172.5-115.5, while the women suffered a 143-point deficit, 219-76. Clarkson will have a pair of dual meets next weekend, heading down Route 11 for St. Lawrence and then hosting Oswego State.

Everett won both of the distance freestyle races, claiming the 1000 freestyle in 10:33.04 early in the day and then the 500 freestyle 5:05.06 later on in the meet. Mason Cartier claimed the top spot in both of the backstroke events, finishing first in the 100 race in 55.67 seconds and then taking the 200 back with a time of 2:02.81.

Gavin Cibelli carried the title in both of the diving events for the Knights, winning the 3-meter in 288.08 and then topping the numbers with 229.43 in the 1-meter.

Other winners for the Knights on Saturday were Andrew Sammons in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.42), Gavin Stuhler in the 50 freestyle (21.99 seconds), and Evan Paneras in the 100 butterfly (53.63). Clarkson also won both of the relay events, as the combination of Cartier, Sammons, Paneras, and Stuhler combined in the 200 medley relay for 1:39.45 and Andrew Sypko, Paneras, Landon Colby, and Stuhler finished the 200 freestyle in 1:56.13.

Evelyn Vieira won both of the diving events for the Knights on the women's side, winning the 1-meter by more than 47 points with 223.80, and then taking the 3-meter by nearly 52 points with a score of 216.75. Natasha Hurff also had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.
