Rochester, NY - Limited to nine hits over 12 innings, the Clarkson University Softball team could not keep pace offensively with University of Rochester, falling in Friday's Liberty League doubleheader to the Yellowjackets 7-2 and 13-0.

The Golden Knights fell to 9-13 overall and 1-3 in the Liberty League and Rochester improved to 16-6 and 3-1. Clarkson looks to regroup against RIT on Saturday afternoon.

All of game one's runs came in two innings, as each team scored in the second and fifth. Clarkson was on the board first in the top of the second as Devin Fitzpatrick led off with a double to the right-center gap. A groundout pushed Fitzpatrick to third, but it wasn't until there were two outs that Elissa Uveino's single plated the first run of the contest. Rochester came back with five in the bottom half of the inning, taking advantage of some Clarkson mistakes. The Yellowjackets started off with two outs, but a walk and an error extended the inning. Riley Laygo's single tied the game and Loren Castilloux followed with a two-run double to put the score at 3-1. Jenna Gorecki then singled in another run, and one more came around on a throwing error for a 5-1 score.

In the fifth, Clarkson got things going when Uveino reached on an infield single. Isabel Haspil reached on an error, and after an out was recorded, Katy Aldous's single loaded the bases. With two down, Elizabeth Greco singled to plate Uveino, but Rochester escaped the jam without further damage by ending the inning on a grounder to second. Rochester got the run back and added one more in the bottom half of the fifth thanks to a two-run double from Marie Kinchington.

Uveino was the lone Clarkson player with multiple hits in the first game, going 2-for-2 while also reaching on a walk. Fitzpatrick allowed two earned runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out one for the Knights. Rochester's Molly Broccolo gave up a single earned run in five innings, allowing six hits and no walks against four strikeouts. Maddie White tossed the last two innings, walking three but striking out four.

In game two, Rochester put the game out of reach in the first two innings and then tacked on four in the fourth to end the game via run rule. The Yellowjackets scored six in the first, starting with a solo home run by Loren Castilloux. Lauren Keys later singled in a run, Hannah Keiper doubled in one, and Molly Mason's double scored two more. Jensen Sminchack then singled in a run to put the tally at 6-0 after one inning. Keys, Keiper, and Mason each drove in a run in the second to make it 9-0. In the fourth, a dropped fly ball on a sac fly scored one, and three more came around on a Riley Laygo.
