The Knights would not let the sting from last night's game linger long as they answered the bell on game 2 of a tough weekend to take down the only team in the ECAC that is ranked ahead of them, Colgate, 1-0.
Â
Dominque Petrie would get her second of the weekend and the only tally of the game at 8:27 of the first period.Â
Brooke McQuigge would collect the puck behind the Raiders net and move to the corner where she would feed Petrie on the half wall. Petrie would then roll up into the high slot and take a quick shot that found it's way past the screen of
Anne Cherkowski in front.
Â
It was all
Michelle Pasiechnyk from there as she made 35 saves for her 14th win and 6th shut out of the season.
Â
Colgate would pull their goalie for the extra attacker with about 2 minutes, but Kayle Osborne got a bit of a workout as she had to go back to the net and repeat the process several times as Clarkson did a great job of not letting the Raiders establish any in zone time. Â
Â
With the win the Knights jumped up to #3 in the National Pairwise Rankings, the metric used to determine NCAA seeding and selection. They are also now in 2nd place in the ECAC, just .5 points out of first place.
Â
Clarkson was 0 for 3 on the power play and held Colgate to 0 for 2 on their chances. Â
Â
The Knights will return to Cheel next weekend when they host RPI and Union. Â
