Knights Utilize 15-0 Run In Second to Down Bard, 68-51

Potsdam, NY – Strong runs in both the second and third quarters turned a close game into an easy win for the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team, as the Golden Knights picked up a 68-51 victory over Bard College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-15 overall and 2-10 in the Liberty League, while Bard fell to 4-14 and 0-12. Clarkson begins a four-game road trip next weekend at William Smith College.

Bard opened the game with the first five points, but Clarkson quickly recovered and had a three-point lead with just over three minutes off the clock after a Bella Doyle layup at 6:57. The Knights' advantage would move to six points about four minutes later following Addie Kea's 3-pointer, but Bard rattled off an 8-0 run, capped by a Jessica Martin 3-pointer. The two teams would be tied at the end of the first and at the start of the second quarter, but the Knights owned the game the rest of the way. Clarkson went on a 15-0 run over a stretch of six minutes, closed out by an Emma Chambers layup at 3:47. During that run, Addie Kea delivered seven points, and the Knights finished off the half with a 12-point advantage.

The run continued for Clarkson at the start of the third with Clarkson beginning the period on a 14-2 streak with just 3:33 remaining in the quarter when Kailey Johnson found Elizabeth Aiossa on the interior. Clarkson led by as many as 24 points in the fourth quarter, but the Raptors started making shots from the perimeter while the Knights went cold from outside. Shirley Dong hit two 3-pointers to get things going and Aislynn Dixon made another to cut the deficit to 13. The gap would drop to as few as 12 points, but the Knights began whittling away time off the clock and getting to the basket with ease to close out the contest.

Addie Kea finished with 14 points and eight rebounds while both Raelin Burns and Cassidy Dumont scored 11 points. Bella Doyle also had nine points and eight rebounds, while Dumont also chipped in four steals.

For Bard, Lexi Miller had a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 10-for-18 from the floor. Aislynn Dixon also had eight points and four rebounds.
