Entering the weekend with 2 games already in the books the Knights wanted to jump on the Eagles early, who were playing their first game of the season.
The Knights held a 9-1 shot advantage with 8 minutes gone in the game, despite having to kill off an early BC power play. Then the pressure cracked the Eagles, when a flurry of 4 to 5 shots ended with
Laurence Frenette finding the puck and sending through the pile to put the Knights up 1-0 at 7:54. The Knights would take the 1 goal lead into the break after out shooting the Eagles 17 to 2.
In the second period the Knights would keep the pressure on, but during a 4 on 4 situation, needed a huge save on a breakaway from
Michelle Pasiechnyk at 14:16 preserved the lead for the Knights.
Clarkson would continue to out shoot the Eagles in the 2nd period, 10 to 6.
In the final period the Knights would give themselves some breathing room when
Darcie Lappan would score at 8:47 to extend the lead to 2-0. The Knights would then be forced to kill of two straight BC power plays, but did not allow a notable scoring chance during the 4 minutes. At 16:47 the Knights would put the lead out of reach with a goal from
Anne Cherkowski. She was able to slide the puck under Campbell as she was getting hauled down.Â
Michelle Pasiechnyk would make 20 saves on the night for her 2nd win and shutout of the season. Clarkson has now gone 180 minutes without allowing a goal.
Clarkson was 0 for 3 on power play chances, while holding BC to 0 for 4 on the advantage.Â
The two teams will face off again tomorrow at 3:00 pm. After tomorrow's game will be the Skate with A Knight Event. Fans will have the chance to take the ice with the Golden Knights.
