Getting some much needed rest after playing six games in a stretch of 14 days, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team faces perhaps its toughest opponent of the conference season as the Golden Knights head to Geneva, NY to take on fourth-ranked William Smith College on Saturday.

The Series: William Smith has never lost or tied against the Golden Knights in 35 all-time meetings. Clarkson last scored against the Herons back in 2008. Last year's meeting was a 2-0 win for William Smith, though Clarkson had to compete for the final 73 minutes with just 10 players on the field.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-1-2, 1-1-0 Liberty League): Although the Golden Knights, ranked 20th in the latest United Soccer Coaches' poll, have seen a general increase in offense this season, it has been the defense that has led the way. Clarkson has produced six shutouts in nine games and allowed only three goals, with two of those goals actually coming in the final 90 seconds in separate games. Junior goalkeeper Molly DiCaprio ranks 19th nationally in goals against average (0.27), 15th in save percentage (.941), and is tied for fifth in shutouts (five).

Key Stats for William Smith (5-0-3, 1-0-2 Liberty League): The Herons were ranked first in the poll last week after a win over the previous number-one, but a pair of ties saw them fall from the top spot. Grad students and seniors have done much of the scoring for the Herons, as five of the top six scorers have three years of experience or more at the collegiate level. Julia DiMenna leads the team with eight points on four goals, including the game-winner on Wednesday against Ithaca. Katrine Berg has six points thanks to a goal and four assists, and Ava Ruppersberger also has six points with two goals and two assists.
