Knights Drop Non-League Doubleheader at Oswego State, 4-1 and 6-2

Oswego, NY – Limited to five hits in each game, the Clarkson University Baseball team's offense was kept off the scoreboard for most of Tuesday's doubleheader against Oswego State, as the Golden Knights dropped a non-league doubleheader to the Lakers 4-1 and 6-2.

The Golden Knights fell to 10-19 on the year and the Lakers moved 17-15. Clarkson is scheduled for a three-game series against St. Lawrence University this weekend.

In the first contest, the Lakers scored three times in the second inning to take the early advantage. Emil Sanders picked up an RBI on an infield single, Julian Drew singled to second to score another, and a wild pitch allowed another run to come in. Clarkson pushed its lone run across in the fifth when Aidan Kuefner doubled to right-center with one out, and he eventually came home on a wild pitch. However, the Lakers got the run back in the bottom half of the inning when Blake VanDreason stole third and scampered home on an error.

Game two was also close throughout, though the Lakers scored four in their last at bat to break the tie. Oswego scored twice in the bottom of the first as Julian Drew singled to right to plate the first run and a Jelani Hamer ground out pushed another run across. Like game one, Clarkson scored its first run in the fifth, as Kent Wilson singled home Robert Whalen. The Knights tied the game in the sixth as Kuefner scored on a Quinn Maslowski single up the middle. However, the Lakers rediscovered their offense in the bottom half of the frame. Tishawn Featherstone drove in a pair with a single and Felix De Asa DeLaCruz picked up an RBI with a single.
