Frosh Account for Six Hits in Clarkson's 7-4 Loss to Keystone

Auburndale, FL – Despite outhitting its opponents, the Clarkson University Baseball team was unable to cash in enough on its chances as the Golden Knights fell to Keystone College 7-4 on Tuesday afternoon at the Lake Myrtle Baseball Complex.

The Golden Knights dropped to 0-7 on the season, while Keystone moved to 3-4 on the year. Clarkson takes on Emerson College on Wednesday morning.

The Giants got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first on a two-out single by Chris Hadsall. Clarkson responded with a run in the top of the second when James Mason was able to score on a balk during a first-and-third situation, but the bottom half of the inning saw Keystone push two runs across, with the first coming in on a fielder's choice and the second on an RBI single by Robert Estrada, putting the tally at 3-1.

The offenses were quiet until the bottom of the fifth when Josh Parks delivered a three-run homer, which turned out to be the game-winning RBI. Clarkson notched two runs in the top of the sixth as Colby Brouillette and Aidan Kuefner each singled to start the frame. Brouillette then scored on a wild pitch, and Kuefner came around on a passed ball to make it 6-3. A two-out single from Quinn Maslowski in the eighth drew the Knights to within two, but Keystone got the run back in the bottom half of the frame on a sac fly.

Brouillette went 3-for-5 with a run scored, Kuefner was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and Mason was 2-for-4 with a run, representing the middle of the order. Joe Figliolino also was 2-for-3.
