POTSDAM, NY – A game that featured two teams ranked in the top 10 nationally, but who had already locked up their playoff seed, there were no signs that resting up for the playoffs was on the minds of either team.
Clarkson would strike early in the opening period when
Jenna Goodwin scored her 6th of the season at 4:49, with assists from
Darcie Lappan and
Jaden Bogden. Just minutes later the Knights would extend the lead to 2-0 when
Gabrielle David would score at 6:15, her 19th of the season.
Nicole Gosling and
Brooke McQuigge would be credited with assists on the goal and Clarkson would take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
In the 2nd period, the Bobcats outshot the Knights 9-3 but the score would remain 2-0.
In the 3rd period, Quinnipiac would have several shifts of good pressure but was not able to score until 14:21, when Lexie Adzija made it 2-1. Quinnipiac would pull the goalie for the extra attacker for over a minute, but the Knights were able to get several key clears and get the 2-1 win.
Michelle Pasiechnyk would make 28 saves for her 21st win of the year.
Clarkson was 0 for 2 on the power play, and Quinnipiac was 1 for 2 on the power play.
