Knights Finish Off First Semester with 90-66 Win Against NVU-Lyndon

Lyndon, VT – After a 50-point first-half, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team kept its foot on the pedal in the second half to close out the first semester with a 90-66 win over NVU-Lyndon in non-league action on Sunday afternoon.

The win for the Golden Knights pushed their record to 5-3 on the season, while the Hornets fell to 2-6. Clarkson will play a pair of games in Florida at the end of the month before returning to league play the opening weekend of January.

Clarkson opened the game on a 7-0 run and six minutes into the contest had a double-digit lead. NVU-Lyndon was able to trim the margin down to four on a couple of occasions near the midway point of the first half only to see Clarkson go on a 20-5 run down the stretch of the first 20 minutes to claim a 19-point advantage (45-26) with a little over two minutes remaining. Mondwell Buckle scored seven points in quick succession to get the Hornets closer, but the Knights stayed up by double figures heading into the break.

Near the start of the second half, the Hornets again got within striking distance as a Bukle 3-pointer put the margin at eight (54-46) and the lead hovered around 10 for the next handful of minutes. Eventually, though, Clarkson would pull away as the team would get hot from the perimeter. First Jack Dalgety hit a pair of 3-pointers in a stretch of 90 seconds and then Ryan Miles-Ferguson hit two long-range shots in less than a minute to give the Knights a 23-point advantage with a little over five minutes to go. From that point, Clarkson was able to cruise to the win.

Ryan Miles-Ferguson scored a game-high 23 points, shooting 4-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc, to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Blake Gearhart got to the basket with regularity to score 20 points and added five assists. Jack Dalgety had his third straight standout game, scoring 18 points while also chipping in seven boards. Frankie Rainville also contributed 10 points for the Knights.

For NVU-Lyndon, Mondwell Bukle scored 12 points in 22 minutes, and Aidan Lopez scored 12 in 16 minutes off the bench.
