Geneva, NY – Hobart got off to a hot start and scored in the 10th minute against the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team, and the Golden Knights could not come up with the equalizer as the team fell 1-0 to the Statesmen in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson, ranked 21st in the country, fell to 7-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in the Liberty League, while the Statesmen improved to 5-3-3 and 2-1-2. The Golden Knights will host a pair of conference games next weekend against Vassar College and Bard College.

The Statesmen started off strong with four shots in the first 10 minutes of the game, with the fourth attempt ending up in the back of the net as Connor Koschineg and Nolan Fierro connected at 9:39. Hobart recorded only three more shots the rest of the way as the Knights' defense clamped down. Taro Hayashi and Nolan Grady had attempts on the net just 30 seconds apart immediately after the goal, but both were denied by Hobart keeper Guillermo Castaneda Chang.

Clarkson wouldn't have another chance on goal until early in the 76th minute when Colin Wright put one on the frame, and that was the final shot for either team the rest of the way.

Clarkson finished with an 8-7 lead in shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal, though Hobart had five corner kicks to the Knights' one. Carter Kladstrup played the full 90 but did not make a save, as the lone shot on goal that was stopped was registered as a team save. Castaneda Chang made three tops for the Statesmen.
