Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Knights Fall Short at Union, 4-3

Schenectady, NY – For the first time all year, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team allowed multiple goals in a game, and the offense couldn't quite keep up as the Golden Knights dropped a 4-3 decision to Union College in Liberty League play Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights saw their record fall to 8-3-3 overall and 2-3-3 in the Liberty League, while the Dutchmen picked up their first conference win, moving to 1-5-1 and 4-8-2.

Clarkson's defense was a little shorthanded due to multiple cards from one player and a handful of injuries which may have caused some mistakes at inopportune times. Clarkson was whistled for infractions inside the penalty box twice in the first half, allowing the Dutchmen to score via penalty kick twice, with Robbie Michalski converting at 10:52 and Wyatt Goldfisher finding pay dirt at 39:49.

Clarkson's offense was relatively quiet until the second half, when the Knights scored a pair of goals just 10 seconds apart. Christian Silvano scored off a header off a kick from Bobby Guilfoil at 63:11 and when the Knights gained possession off the ensuing kickoff, Paolo Martino quickly found Nolan Grady for another goal at 63:21. The Knights then took the lead 11 minutes later on Bobby Guilfoil's third goal of the year, as he scored off his left foot from about 20 yards out on a free kick.

Union picked up two goals late in the game just two minutes apart to come away with the win. Off a throw-in, the ball bounced around the box before finding the foot of Evan Farr at 84:27, and Union scored off another scrum when Nate Boule found the back of the net at 86:25.

Union finished with a 20-8 edge in shots and a 10-6 lead in shots on goal. Carter Kladstrup made five saves for the Knights while Sean Speck stopped three shots.
