With fans back in the building for the first time since February 29th of 2020, the 500+ in attendance were treated to a high octane offense as the Knight topped Sacred Heart 6-1.
The Knights went on the power play early in the game, but the Pioneers were able to get a short handed goal at 3:07. Two minutes later the Knights tied it when
Laurence Frenette got her first collegiate point, and then Knights didn't trail again the rest of the game. At 7:54 another freshman scored, as
Haley Winn was able to get an even strength goal. The Knights closed out the first period when
Caitrin Lonergan made it 3-1.
The second period's lone goal was scored by
Gabrielle David and then Knights lead 4-1 after two. Clarkson continued the pressure in the third and it resulted in goals from
Nicole Gosling and David's second of the game. David ended up with 2 goals and 2 assists, Lonergan with a goal and 3 assist.
Jenna Goodwin also registered her first point as a Golden Knight with an assist on Winn's goal.
Michelle Pasiechnyk made 15 saves and was relived by
Marie Dedert who was credited with 4 saves. Clarkson registered 54 shots on net against the Pioneers.
The Knights went 1 for 4 on the power play and killed off both power play chances for Sacred Heart.
The two teams will be back on the ice tomorrow at 2:00pm.
