Women's Soccer | 8/30/2021 7:14:00 PM

Back in 2019, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team raced out to its best start in program history with seven wins and a tie in the first nine games, ending up with nine victories overall for the second-highest figure in program history. Though a cancelled season stunted the progress that the program could make under third-year head coach Zac Shaw, the Golden Knights are ready to take a step forward in the conference standings in 2021.

The Green and Gold will be a team loaded with youth this fall, as the team returns four seniors and six juniors, only eight of which have put on the school colors for a collegiate game. However, two strong recruiting classes and some key transfers have put the team in a position to succeed this fall, beginning against SUNY Canton on September 1st.

In the spring of 2020, the Knights lost three key members of the program to graduation in goalkeeper Elise Green and high-scoring midfielders Camryn Careccia and Giulia Mahoney. The latter duo combined for nearly half of the team's goals in 2019, accounting for 13 of 27 tallies. Junior Sarah Kohls in the only returning player who recorded a point that fall, having scored a pair of goals along with two assists. Most of Clarkson's returning depth comes on the defensive end, as seniors Hannah Letourneau and Emma Harrigan and junior Juliette LaRock were mainstays on defense. Harrigan has led the team in minutes in each of her two seasons with the Knights, each time by a wide margin, and has only been subbed for twice in her entire collegiate career, both in blowout victories. Letourneau and LaRock both started 15 games in 2019 and should be key components to the Clarkson defense once again.

Both the sophomore and freshman classes are bursting with talent and each accounts for nine spots on the roster.
