Hulbert Scores 27 in Clarkson's Offensive Explosion Versus Norwich

Potsdam, NY – Chris Hulbert shot 5-for-7 from beyond the 3-point arc for a season-high 27 points as the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team rolled to a 107-81 victory over Norwich University on Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-3 on the season and will head to Norwich to complete the head-to-head matchup. The Cadets fell to 0-5 on the season.

Clarkson was hot from the perimeter again, shooting 16-for-31 from beyond the 3-point arc with four players hitting two or more long-range shots, led by Hulbert's five and Joe Lucas's four. That impressive streak of shooting led Clarkson to 107 points, the most the Knights have scored in a game since late in the 1989-90 season, when the team posted 110 against Plattsburgh State.

The Knights got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 10-1 lead and then expanding the margin to 18-5 thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from Jason Phelps. Garrett Delaney hit a 3-pointer midway through the half to push the lead to 16, but Norwich began getting to the basket and cutting into the deficit, eventually reducing Clarkson's lead to single digits before settling at 10 at the break.

At the start of the second half, Clarkson hit four quick 3-pointers, with three buried by Joe Lucas in the first four minutes. The Knights held at least a 16-point lead from the final 14 minutes on and cruised to a 26-point victory.

Hulbert led all scorers with 27 points, going 9-for-14 from the field, while Lucas scored 14 points in 21 minutes, shooting 5-for-9 from the floor. Jason Phelps tossed in 14 on 5-for-7 shooting, while Reese Swedberg contributed a near double-double with 12 points and nine boards and Blake Gearhart added 12 points and six assists.

For Norwich, five finished in double figures, led by Donovan Lewis, Jr.'s 17 points. He also added 10 rebounds. Kyle Booth knocked down 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting as well.
