The Series: The two teams have met twice previously, but none of the current players for the two schools were alive yet when the games occurred. Clarkson is 2-0 all-time against the Hornets, claiming a 116-68 win in the season opener of the 1980-81 season when Jimmy Carter was still in office, and also gaining a 96-62 win at the start of the 1990-91 season.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-2): Through three games, the Golden Knights have shown a propensity for getting up and down the floor, averaging 92 points per game. At the same time, however, the Knights are allowing 91 points per contest. Clarkson has made 43 3-pointers so far and that hot shooting from the perimeter has allowed the Green and Gold to produce 21.7 assists per game. Three different players have led the Knights in scoring thus far, with Chris Hulbert scoring 24 in the opener, Jason Phelps producing a career-high 26 in the team's lone win, and Joe Lucas accounting for a team-best 19 in Clarkson's most recent contest. Phelps has turned in a solid line across the board through three games, averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 56.7% from the floor.

Key Stats for NVU-Lyndon (2-4): Monday afternoon's game should see significant scoring, as not only are the Knights averaging more than 90 points per game, but the Hornets put up 81.8 points per contest through six games this year while allowing 104 ppg to opponents. Lyndon employs a guard-heavy offense where the players get to the line frequently. NVU-Lyndon averages 29 trips to the free throw line per game and makes 21.2 per game, which helps reduce the pains of a minus-5.8 turnover margin and minus-7.8 rebound deficit per game. Sophomore Peyton Olsen tossed in 50 the other day (shooting 19-for-27 from the floor and 12-for-16 from the line) and is averaging 26.8 points per game on 59.3% shooting from the floor. Classmate Tyrese Harris is also in double figures with 13.3 points per game, and the duo is combining for 15.3 free throw attempts per game. Junior guard Zach Falkenberg also chips in 10.2 points per contest. The Hornets are coached by David Pasiak, a graduate of Clarkson University (1984).
